Monks: The 8 fold path..

Salutations, seeker of enlightenment!

When Siddhartha enumerated the 4 Noble Truths, the common link that all human beings experience, his own enlightenment brought forth a course of treatment or cure for overcoming the tanha ((desire for personal fulfillment)) that leads to dukkha ((suffering)). He called this the 8 Fold Path.

1. The Right View
-This encompasses our orientation and reason, based on belief and past experiences.
2. The Right Intention
-We must make up our hearts as to what we really want.
3. The Right Speech
-We must pay attention to what we say.
4. The Right Action
-We must understand our behavior objectively.
5. The Right Livelihood
-We must seek occupations that promote life rather than destroy it.
6. The Right Effort
-This shows our own personal will and determination in accomplishing a task.
7. The Right Mindfulness
-This shows our personal awareness and understanding of things that occur around us and even within ourselves.
8. The Right Concentration
-Allowing the mind to repose in quiet meditation.
