Definition of a Diviner.

Definition: In ancient times, the "Diviner" used mysterious psychic powers to find water, the source of life. A deep understanding of nature's ways also allowed insights into the future. Soothsayer/Seer is one that sees, one that predicts events or developments, a person credited with extraordinary moral and spiritual insight, one that practices divination especially by concentrating on a glass or crystal globe, water or fire, or other tools (cards, bone, runes).

NexusDefinition: A Mage who seeks to know the Truth behind all mysteries that s/he faces. The Diviner's motto is that "Knowledge is Power, Truth is the Key to the Universe." A Diviner is a Mage that understands the ways of the Nexus, giving him/her the ability to see the patterns of life in the Nexus, thus being able to divine the Future.  The Diviner uses the I Ching to See into the Future. The Diviner's Role in the Nexus is to See into the Future and give advice to people about the paths ahead.  General Concept: Diviners are oracles and seers. They have 'Visions about the future' <info given by GM's>. They can use spells or the I Ching to do readings into the Future. They have special powers/spells that are different from other mages/subpaths. All diviners seek to gain knowledge and understand the truths of the Nexus. They all remain Mysterious, meaning they do not give information directly <unless necessary>. They are Trustworthy, meaning anything told to a Diviner of personal nature is to remain secret/confidential.  Diviners will act as counselors and advisers to the Royal Persons, City Counsels and Clan Counsels. Diviners will act as diplomats and trustworthy, active advisers.  Diviners will act with Honor, always.

Philosophy: "Knowledge is Power. Truth is the Key. Knowledge and Truth lead to Enlightenment. Mastery of secrets brings you closer to understanding the Universe. Each secret is part of the Pattern. As you learn the pattern, you will find your true purpose in the world. Every secret reveals to you an aspect of your soul. Divining is the reward of an enlightened soul." The Three Principles of the Diviner

The diviners, for many centuries, in many cultures have been looked to in times of need.  Being trained in the divine arts, we are blessed with the gift of knowledge.  This knowledge serves us well in our day to day quest to learn.  Eternally curious, a diviner pushes him/herself deeper into life's mysteries trying to understand.  Though diviners areh classified together there are many types. Many diviners choose to use their powers to help the community, these Royal Seers are usualy clear of speech and not as didactic as some of their brethren.  Mystics, oracles and prophets tend to speak in riddles and partially formed ideas.  This is not to say that they practice in half truths, for diviners are above all truthful.  Many of the more secretive of the diviners believe that people should not be lead straight down a path, they must search out Tao for themselves.
