Today, I went to Georgian Court University for the New Jersey Association for Educational Technology conference. It was a beneficial experience. I realize that I have learned a lot from the program, but I've still so much to learn. It is quality and abundance of resources and materials out there is unbelievable. A few of the sessions were making my head spin with technical jargon and numerous features.
A few highlights of the day included a sesson with Dr. Shamburg with using Creative Commons, a free site that allows users to put sample audio files and put together creative projects. This is something that I could do with my 4th grade classes. We could narrate original stories and then add audio files such as sound effects and background music. Intro to Garage Band was another cool session (I was keeping with a theme). Very similar program, but had some built in features that could make it easier to use with children. Finally, GollyGee Blocks is software program that I was introduced to today. It is creative tool with is similar to lego. It could integrated very well into a math, science, or language arts curriculum. On a whole it was a very productive day. I'm looking forward to the next NJAET conference.
