Reflection Standard 1
Standard one seems to be such an obvious requirement for technology facilitators. Having the knowledge and the skill to assist other teachers is an essential part of the job. Without a person with the skills to lead the staff in the direction of technology, inexperienced teachers will have a hard time incorporating technology into their teaching. Developing lessons, plans and other resources must be a requirement of the job to ensure that schools successfully implement technology throughout the curriculum.
Having a go-to person is so important when systems, technologies and advancements are made. In order to make a change, teachers need to feel that someone is there as a model to help organize these new ideas and concepts. Like all students it is essential for teachers to feel comfortable and at ease when learning new skills. The technology facilitator can help foster these feelings by being a quality resource who can assist teachers in integrating technology into their classroom lessons.
At my school I try to be of assistance as best as I can. Many teachers know that I am taking these courses and that I'm becoming well versed with technology. I think a big part of becoming comfortable with technology is not being afraid of making mistakes and not being afraid that you're going to break anything. That should be the least of their worries.
