WKBW's WAR OF THE WORLDS  (1971)     $6.99 + S&H
This is the 1971 rebroadcast of WKBW's (West New York) 1968 "War of the Worlds" broadcast. It is VERY similiar to the Orsen Welles broadcast of 1938, but updated for 1968 and Buffalo/Grand Island. Includes a brief opening and closing explanations by the radio station manager.
This is a VERY chilling presentation of the HG Wells story. It uses NO ACTORS but only the news personell of WKBW. It sounds AUTHENTIC and real.
This is a great little piece of War of the Worlds history. Everyone is familiar with the 1938 Orsen Welles broadcast, but this one is much more realistic and gripping. Also, the DJ at the beginning of the show is a riot. I don't know if ANYONE on the radio still talks that fast! Also, see if you think he sounds like Bill Murray at times?
As a FREE BONUS, included is an one hour audio CD of 1955's LUX radio's adaptation of the 1953 "War of the Worlds" film produced by George Pal. Stars Dana Andrews and Pat Crawley
Each CD is approximately 1 hour in length.
If you are a fan of "War of the Worlds" and NOT heard this, you NEED this CD!

This is a 3 audio CD set of the BBC's 1968 adaptation of HG Wells' "War of the Worlds" It has been updated to modern (1968 anyway) times. Quality is excellent. Great adaptation of the classic HG Wells story. Not anything like the radio shows. Would make a GREAT gift for anyone who likes faithful adaptations of Wells' work.
HEAR! The martians lay waste to 1968 England with their HEAT RAY!
HEAR! The protagonist smack the curate unconscious and gloat!
HEAR! The utter destruction of all of mankind!
Total three hours long...Two 1/2 hour episodes per CD.

BBC Day of the Triffids Radio Play (1957)      $7.99 + S&H
This is a 3 audio CD set of the BBC's 1957 adaptation of John Wyndham's "Day of the Triffids" Quality is excellent.
This is a VERY faithful adaptation of John Wyndhams novel about killer plants taking over the world after the vast majority of humanity is blinded by a meteor storm. What I found particularly interesting is the attention to social issues arising out of the the protagonists' predicatment.
VERY gritty realism abounds. Also the solution to repopulating the planet I find almost worthy of H.G. Wells' sense of irony.   FINALLY a science fiction show where the protagonists act at LEAST as intelligently as the listener might!
HEAR! The killer triffids attack their BLIND HUMAN prey!
HEAR! The "lucky" man with 10 wives!
HEAR! The world come to an end???
Total program length is 3 hours. Each CD contains two 1/2 hour episodes.
