Tasks

[Your tasks to take place this week according to your project schedule. Provide the status of the task. If stalled or changed, state why. What did you accomplish this week that is in line with your scheduled tasks?]

1) Configured ArcServe and Trend Micro. [Completed]

Major accomplishments associated with this task are: Configured Trend per instructions indicated in Messaging Suite Admin Guide. For instance, the instructions guide a new admin through every aspect of setting up the system. Most configuration items such as when it finds a virus are left up to the system to determine the appropriate plan of action through Intelliscan. Configured ArcServe, for instance setup the groups from which each backup will be drawn from along with what will be backed up and when.

2) Configured DR. [Ongoing]

Major accomplishments associated with this task are: DR configured successfully. Basically, this requires a complete error free backup that you associate a boot disk and CD with key windows installation information included on it.

3) Test all components configured. [In Progress]

Major accomplishments associated with this task are: Trend Micro monitoring all test servers. Installed test virus, Trend reported intrusion. Ran backup on CMS box, got staging to work. Successfull DR on test server.

Decisions

[What came up that needed to be addressed? DR and staging Did you run into a problem or roadblock? DR did not work, Staging wouldn't work. How did you solve it? Ran DR on another test system, replicated what was done on original test system. Read manual and help files on staging. What important decisions did you make this week that impacted your project? Decision to 'blow out' McAfee on all servers. Decision to uninstall old ArcServe. What were the key tasks you performed this week? All tasks listed above.]

Learning

[Answer all questions below.]

1) What helpful feedback did you get in the class (instructor, classmates) and outside the class (user, stakeholder, beneficiary, mentor, expert advisor, others)? What did you learn from this feedback? Refresher on the necessity to set up media pools. Without media pools all that can take place is a basic 5-day backup not considering holidays.

2) What resources did you use this week (e.g., people, money, equipment, systems, or software)? People, Greg Harding Did you add new resources? No, Greg and the manual were sufficient enough. What was your learning? Media Pools

3) What research did you perform this week that was assisting and/or literature based? Media Pools and Staging for ArcServe What was your learning? How to configure and utilize media pools and staging within Arcserve.

Indicators

[Answer all questions below.]

1) How well did you stick to your project schedule? Moderate. Couldn't fully finish testing until in a live setting. DR can't be implemented until successful backup on live system has been accomplished.

2) How prepared are you to conclude your project in Unit 10 as required in this course? Will meet deadline. Staff and I involved in project are prepared to work weekend if necessary.

3) How likely is it that you will need to resort to your contingency plan? Not likely

Other

[Continued on documentation. Assigned task to finish Trend Micro docs to Gerald. He indicates he will have it complete be 6-5. Documentation for Backup is shared by Greg and myself, will finish by 6-5.]
