Training Philosophy:
The goal of this class is to provide each student with the fundamental skills, knowledge and training needed to reach their individual fitness and or athletic goals. Our training will target the development of “athletic movements” (explosiveness, speed & power) as well as absolute size and strength.  The ultimate purpose of strength training is to develop “functional strength” which will help you to perform your best in your chosen activities.  This lifting program uses olympic & power lifts as well as other auxiliary exercises that will help make your muscles bigger, stronger and more explosive. Gains in strength and explosiveness will help you to jump higher, run faster and perform athletic activities more powerfully.
Strength training is an important component of overall fitness and a critical step every athlete must take to maximize their performance.  Success in strength training and athletics is a function of both ability and motivation.  Ability is largely inherited, but can be greatly influenced by a person’s motivation to train.  As with most things in life, you get out of your training what you put into it.  We want to promote the concept that your effort can create and maximize your ability.  You are responsible for your own success in life; it is a choice and a process which you control.  We will teach you how to train and encourage you through this process.  However, you are the one that has to provide the effort.  With consistent hard work, you will set and achieve your goals by tapping daily into your “universal resource” which is effort.

“It’s not the will to win that’s important, everyone has that.  It’s the will  to prepare to win that matters most.”
