CDNow: Are the solo albums the next things people can expect from members of dc Talk?
Toby: April or May -- probably in April -- we're going to release something called dc Talk Solo, and it will be an EP with two songs by each of us. And it won't just be like a promotional item; it will be a for-real disc.
People always think [that] when you go do your own records, you know, that's the end of the group. There are lots of rumors flying around about us breaking up, and we just really wanted to let people know that, no, we're doing this together. We wanted to put our name on a disc.
People were wanting to do their own record so bad [that] we were tempted very, very heavily to make just our next record as three or four songs by Kevin, three or four songs by Toby, three or four songs by Michael, and that's it. That is our solo record, but they're all on one disc. And then we thought about packaging it together -- three discs, make it like a box set of our solo records. There've been many things that didn't make sense, for one reason or another. Sometimes it was the label; sometimes it was us. But we ended up saying, at a minimum, let's do an EP that lets people know that this is the dissected sound of dc Talk. Believe it or not, I think it's going to sound like that. |
