Bowling Green


Caroline County Courthouse


Bowling Green: Union soldiers broke into stores, freed prisoners and looted the town May 21, 1864, during their march to the North Anna River.


Carmel Church


Carmel Church: Union army reunited here in preparation for attacks at the North Anna River.


Mangohick Church


Mangohick Church: Elements of the Union army marched past here after the North Anna battle. The church was being rennovated when I visited on 10/25/2000.


Enon Church


Enon Church: A fierce cavalry battle (the Battle of Haw's Shop) was fought here May 28, 1864.


Unknown Confederate Memorial


This monument was erected in memory of 27 unknown Confederate soliders killed in the Battle of Haw's Shop and buried in the churchyard of Enon Church.
