| Thursday morning we awoke early once again to begin the major hike of our trip. The highest peak in the park and third highest peak in Korea was within our grasp. We had heard whispers of an approaching typhoon but hey, the trails were open so up we went...straight up for 7 hours. |
| Besides the lure of the highest peak the one thing that kept us going through those long tiring hours was the spectacular scenery. The rock faces of Seoraksan are like none we've seen before and the cascading waterfalls and crystal clear rivers made for some enjoyable breathers. |
| Storytime: There was once a spirit who came to the waterfall (pictured on the above right), had a good time and then went back to her home in Heaven. We're serious. This was the story featured on the sign by the waterfall. Maybe something was lost in the translation... |
| One section of the trail near the end was straight up a trail of rocks and boulders. However, when you turned around, this is what you saw. Amazing! And finally, the result of all of our efforts! We made it! The writing on the marker reads Daecheongbong, the name of the peak. |
