Weert is a little dutch town very close to the Belgian border. It is also the home of Loes, Dave's "dutch sister" (she lived with Dave's family in Digby for a year when Dave was little and became like part of the family), and her fiance Frank.
One of the first things they introduced us to was a dutch breakfast. Meat, cheese, bread, fruit, yoghurt...
... and we can't forget the chocolate sprinkles!
Like all of our other hosts on the trip, Loes and Frank were just wonderful to us. Thanks to them we had two bikes at our disposal and bike trails galore to explore (some of which we did with them). Other times we'd sit in cafes or stroll around quaint towns and cities just absorbing everything we could.
With them we also saw our first Dutch windmill and here is Loes, 37 weeks pregnant, posing in front of it. Loes and Frank's daughter, Bente Pippa, was born a few weeks after we left. Congratulations to both of you!
According to Dave's mom, Dave has always been a "thinker". Frank snapped this picture while we were sitting in a cafe in Maastricht.
