| On February 6th we flew to Bali from Darwin. We had entered a world more foreign to us than any we had yet experienced. Poor, undeveloped and overcrowded, but also exotic and full of ancient history and culture. |
| Unlike the rest of Indonesia, hinduism is Bali's most prominent religion. |
| Flag posts like those on the left line the streets reminding people that no matter how high they get in society's hierarchy, they should always bend to help those below. |
| On the left is a statue of a god at a hindu temple. People pile offerings on it morning and evening with the hope of receiving good fortune. |
| Bali is also home to a Monkey forest in Ubud. Within its walls lie ancient and sometimes abandoned temples, not to mention.... |
| ...monkeys!! These playful little critters live in the "wild" per say but willingly accept handouts from enchanted tourists. |
| Not far from Ubud are the rice fields of Gunung kawi... |
| ...and Gunung Kawi itself, an ancient temple carved right out of the stone of the hillside. |
