Now, I should mention, that throughout this whole trip we had no idea what was coming next. Yes, we can follow basic Korean, but any in-depth conversation still goes way over our heads. So, we went with the flow and found ourselves at a minbak (homestay of sorts) just outside of Jirisan, one of our favorite national parks in the country.
This particular minbak just happened to be one of the coolest minbaks we've stayed at so far. It had its own outdoor cooking area and numerous little raised platforms were you could eat. Our friends did the cooking....
...and we did the cleaning up. Not a bad deal, especially when soy bean soup and Korean style barbequed meat was on the menu

Next came the entertainment. What does one do when staying at a minbak on a Saturday night? One goes to the neighbouring Nori-bang (karoake room) of course!
A before-bed card game to increase the group funds for the following day. This was our friends' first response to the idea of a picture being taken at this time of night when nobody was looking their best.
Our third and last day of the trip. Up Jiri mountain we went--in a car. It was the only possible way to get a complete group picture on the mountain as not everyone here enjoys hiking as much as we do...
...however, two brave souls did manage to hike the park's second highest peak with us and here we are at the top.
The trip ended with a short detour to Nagan folk village where we spent a lazy afternoon and soaked up all the sun and fresh air we could before heading back to Yangsan. Ms. Hong decided that the trip was such a success she's already planning a second one for October!
Note: As this was a Korean traveling experience all of the pictures on this page have people in them.
