The gorgeous guy behind the sweet-as-can-be Jack McPhee is just as sensitive and adorable off screen as he is on Dawson's Creek. Better still he's single, and he's looking for a girlfriend!

love status: He recently broke up with his long-term girlfriend Ali. (Lucky for us, unlucky for Kerr).
boyfriend credentials: Apart from being an absolute hottie and a genuinely nice guy, Kerr says he tries to be a good boyfriend. "I'm not the biggest romantic, but every once in a while I'll crack open a bottle of wine, buy a bunch of roses and cook a meal. Or I'll organise a surprise weekend trip."
friendship group: He mostly hangs out with people he met in New York when he was working in bars or with old college buddies, but he does hang with the Capeside crew when he's working in Wilmington.
naming game: Kerr is his grandmother's maiden name. "With a last name like Smith you have to have something unusual for a first name!" he says.
from dork to dude: "I was a dork in school," he admits. "I had a bowl haircut and braces, and I was picked on. But in eighth grade, I started going out with this girl from the 'in crowd', so I moved from the dorky lunch table to hers, which was where all the cool kids sat. Then, later on in high school I love my braces, started to dress better, got a new haircut and then came out of my shell."
school days: Once he came out of his shell, he was really out there! "I was involved in everything from sports to the school's student government," he says. "But sometimes the small part of me that was shy and quiet used to come out, and I wasn't afraid to spend time by myself, or go to the movies alone."
smarty pants: After high school, Kerr attended the University of Vermont and in 1994 graduated with a BA degree in Finance and Accounting.
working days: After uni, Kerr returned home and started working at a marketing firm with his dead, but after realising it was not for him, he decided to give acting a go. He sold his car and moved to New York.
extra life: Once in the Big Apple, Kerr was cast as an extra (on his birthday) in the movie Twelve Monkeys, but you won't be able to spot him because he's in a scene with 500 other people! He also starred in a couple of commercials.
tv life: Before joining Dawson's Creek in 1998 as the gay guy Jack McPhee (who we all secretly lust after), he played Ryder Hughes in the American soapie As The World Turns from 1996 to '97. He also appeared in one episode of Baywatch.
movie life: In 1999 he made his big screen debut in the B-grade movie, Hit and Runway, and he also appeared in a comedy called Kiss and Tell. In 2000, he became a leading man when he appeared alongside Devon Sawa and Ali Later in the scary thriller Final Destination.
coming up: Catch Kerr in The Broken Hearts Club which hits screens next month, and watch out for Forsaken with Roswell's Brendan Fehr later this year.
first kiss: He can't remember his first snogging session, but he recalls kissing a girl in seventh grade. "She was so tiny and we were behind this huge oak tree. I had to prop her up!" he laughs.
screen kiss: His first pash for the camera was with Mark Wahlberg's gorgeous lurve bug, Jordana Brewster in As The World Turns. It was a while ago, so we're sure Mark is OK about it!
driving him crazy: Kerr says he could never be stuck in a life with Meredith Monroe, his on screen Dawson's sis Andie. He says he loves her to death, but she talks way too much!
most unusual job: He was once a tyre warehouse worker.
original prankster: The guy's got a great sense of humour. Just listen to the prank he pulled on his Creek co-star Katie Holmes. "We had this Titanic-like scene where she sketched me in the nude," says Kerr. "I had this nude bathing-suit-thong thing on under a towel, and I asked wardrobe to stuff a sock for me. At some point the towel fell off, and I had this two-foot-long sock sticking out of my drawers. Everyone started screaming and Katie thought it was the real thing so she was very embarrassed." What a naughty boy!
parents: His dad is a financial advisor and his mum also appeared as an extra in Twelve Monkeys.
hobbies: Cooking, working on the computer, playing golf and snow skiing.
fave book: A Time To Kill by John Grisham.
making music: Kerr's a classical trained pianist and also plays the bass. He is currently working on an album which he is also recording himself.
on the box: Kerr's fave tv shows are Seinfeld, Newsradio and he admits to being a Star Trek junkie.
on the big screen: His fave movies are Braveheart and The Shawshank Redemption.
on the stereo: Kerr chills out to the groovy reggae tunes of Bob Marley and rocks to the sounds of the Dave Matthews Band.
