Katie Holmes: Is She Leaving Capeside? J-14 Magazine, February 2001

Katie Holmes will be disappearing in the flick The Gift, which opens January 21, and it looks like she might be appearing on the show Friends! Don't worry, she's not giving up Dawson's Creek (not yet anyway!), but she's reportedly been in talks to guest star on four episodes of the must-see-TV hit as a co-worker of Rachel's who ends up with Ross! In The Gift, Katie plays a young Southern woman who mysteriously vanishes. It sounds like her character will be the toal opposite of Joey Potter. "She's the socialite of Georgia and a bit of a - ahem - naughty girl"

There was a time when Katie steered clear of thrillers. She reportedly passed on starring roles in The Beach and Scream, and even passed up the chance to play TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now it looks like psychological thrillers about missing propel are right up Katie's alley: She'll soon start filming Abandoned, where she plays a college student who has visions of her ex-boyfriend who has disappeared.
