In the book "Gunter" by Edwin D. Gunter, Lena Mae Fryer and Barbara Fryer Price, p. 62 is the following data:
"the 1840 census of Lowndes Co., MS, shows George Washington Gunter, brother of C.C. Gunter, and son of Sarah Gunter, now in Pickens Co., AL.
George Washington Gunter married Amanda Hobbs 14 Feb. 1839, and then is shown living there in the 1840 census; Males 1-(20 to 30) and Female: 1-(15-20). Pickens Conty Al and Lowndes Co., MS are just across the line from each other."
On p. 64 the children are listed as : Mary F., age 9 b. MS; Claborn H., age 7, b. MS,; William W., age 4, b. AL; Louisa J, age 2, b. AL; Andrew J., age 1 b. AL.
