| Something For Nothing A nomad through hot desert sand Oppressed by scorching sun Man trudges through this arid land -Of barrenness - undone. As wanting as a pauper's purse To poverty he's joined Inheritance but Adam's curse -His paradise purloined. Seductive voices sing his name Feign fill bleak emptiness Then quick abandon as they came -Sore soul left in distress. Drink deep the living water free A reservoir ne'er dry Eternal springs - come taste and see -His well doth satisfy. A bounty rich worth more than gold Abounds, true, overflows Redemption bought from days of old -So freely He bestows. Abyss is filled by Him alone -This King's own righteousness Behold the Lamb - His shed blood's shown The path to blessedness. Copyright 10/99, Denise Corbley Snyder |
