The Secret Rapture -- Left Behind.
Ever hear of it? A huge percentage of the Christian church is buzzing about an incredible event which will come like a thief in the night, and in a moment, the twinkling of an eye, perhaps millions of people will vanish from the face of the Earth, leaving the greater majority of the world to scratch its head in wonder.
The belief is hot right now. Trendy. You can't walk into a bookstore, secular or Christian, without tripping over a stack of the bestselling fantasy novels.
But probably the most intriguing thing about the phenomena is, 50 years ago only far-flung fringe groups believed in the so-called "secret rapture" (a term and scenario found nowhere in the Bible). Unless you were friends with a Jehovah's Witness, or possibly small Pentacostal groups which no longer exist, the idea would have seemed preposterous, silly, and heretic.
The Bible, and the Christian church historically, have always declared a very VISIBLE, and NON-secret glorious "Second Coming of Christ," or "Second Advent of Christ," complete with earthshaking trumpets blown, and the dead waking from their graves, and the loud shout of God!
It is URGENT that you do not allow anyone to deceive you.
And as He sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, "Take heed that no man deceive you." (Matthew 24:4)
For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
