Destiny

He stood in the silence of the cave, holding his destiny in his hands.  A destiny formed of pain and sorrow.  A destiny he’d embraced as a mere child.

He did this every evening before pulling the mask into place.  Taking a moment to reflect – to remember – to become.  Fulfilling a vow made with the blood of his parents.  Promising them that what happened to them – to him - would not happen to another.

He slipped the mask over his features and felt the transformation take place within him.  This is his destiny.  This is who he is.  He is Batman.
