DC Loses Key Region Matches, Playoff Hopes

The Douglas County Tigers dropped a pair of consecutive region matches to put them out of the picture for one of the four state playoff births in region 5-AAAAA.
The Tigers first fell victim to a strong Marietta team, who scored 3 goals in a 10 minute span 15 minutes into the first half and went on to finish off the Tigers 7-0. Leading 4-0 midway through the second half, the Devils capitalized on two red card ejections given to defender Drew Hook and midfielder Brett Hicks. The cards meant that the two would have to sit out for the next two games, which included a key matchup with Osborne for the fourth playoff spot.

Osborne got on the board first , but was countered only minutes later by a breakaway goal by Zack Rozier. DC put another goal on the board with 10 minutes left in the half when Will Morgan make a run up the middle and beat the keeper 1v1. DC went into halftime tied 2-2 with the Cardinals. Obviously lacking depth from 3 missing starters, the Tigers played the second half much less offensively and were put away 4-2. "We don't have a very deep team, and not having 3 key senior starters out there on the field was a big blow," said Joel Holder, Tiger defenseman.
