Douglas County's boys' varsity soccer team trailed 2-0 at halftime to Chapel Hill on goals by Quinton Farmer and Kyle Garrett but mounted a great offensive attack and stepped play up on defense to come back in the second period to beat Chapel Hill's Panthers 3-2 in the Douglas County Invitational Friday night.

The Tigers' Zack Rozier came away with a hat trick (three goals) in the second half to almost single handidly beat the Panthers.

Chapel Hill scored early in the first half as Farmer scored on a penalty kick with 30:12 left in the period. Garrett's goal came on an assist from Steve Reeves with just 12 seconds remaining in the half.

Douglas County coach Brian Davidson said, "We were pushed tonight (Friday), and I mean we were pushed hard. I was not worried much after the first goal on a penalty kick, but when they scored again, I began to worry. I thought the kids did a great job composing themselves, and Chapel Hill has a good team.

DC's Rozier scored his first goal of the second half on a straight kick from about 15 yards out with an assist by David Willoughby with 30:12 left to play. His second goal, a header, came at the 27:54 mark to tie the match. Rozier then got the winning goal in the right corner of the net after Chapel Hill was called for a foul.

Douglas County defensive man Matt Parmer said "I think our defense picked up the pace in the second half and played with a lot of character."

The Tigers stand at 3-0 in the tournament while Chapel Hill dropped to 0-2. The Panthers will play central today at 11 a.m., and Douglas County will face off with Alexander's Cougars Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m.
