Ion and Ginger were invited to HSGKC's annual reunion. Since we couldn't make it, Ion decided to write them an update anyway.

Dear nice people at HSGKC,

Were sorry we couldnt attend the reunion last week, but our humans had to go volunteer on that Saturday. Its not like we were doing anything, but they keep the keys, and we dont know how to get there, as were inside cats. You might remember me and my sister. My new name is Ion, but it used to be Moose. I was there when I was just a kitten, and you knew my mom. She was a big cat, and so am I! (My Dad swears that I must weigh 20 lbs now.) My sister really wasnt my sister until we went to live with the Smiths, but her name used to be Janis. Shes Ginger now, and is awfully whiny. Shes also a big tattletale who rats on me when I get up on top of the refrigerator. Shes always talking, and mom talks back to her. Crazy human. I just keep my mouth shut unless I am announcing my presence in a room. Mom and Dad like to know when I come in a room especially when theyre sleeping.

Cat life is good here. We get lots of treats, and our aunt bought us this great cat-tree so we can look out the windows. Oh, and it also keeps us up above the D-O-G. The smelly thing came to live with us several months ago, but we just try to avoid it. Sometimes, it tries to chase Ginger, but she just swats it. Were better anyway. Its a big German Shepard, and came from Animal Haven. Guess it was kind of like us, but not as cool, cause we got adopted first.

We dont have a whole lot of hobbies, but we eat and sleep a lot. I like to sleep on top of Dads computer monitor where its warm, and I sleep with Mom and Dad at night. Sometimes I pretend Im a leopard and pounce down from the headboard, but Mom and Dad dont seem to appreciate my nightly prowess. One of my favorite things to do is to sneak up on Dads water bottle and knock it over. I love that game! Ginger also likes to eat and sleep, and is really good at reminding Mom to refill our bowl. (I told you she was loud) Every morning, meow this, meerrorw that. She tries to sit on Moms lap when shes studying, but gets thrown off a lot. She still sucks on herself, but not as much as she did when she was a kitten. Shes weird. And whiny. Did I mention that shes really whiny? She also likes to pounce on me, and we get kind of crazy now and then. As long as she doesnt try to take my favorite toy, were ok. We sometimes sleep together, and shell clean my ears for me. I do the same for her, but have to put her in a headlock first sometimes.

Well, were sorry we couldnt make it this year. Maybe next year. Thanks for feeding us when we stayed there. We just wanted to let you know that were ok, and you dont have to worry about us.

Thanks and Love,
Ion and Ginger Smith,
and our humans, Danielle & Andrew Smith
