Times Like These

Written on July 9, 2000. This song is dedicated to my best friend, Jacquelyn Soden. We did everything together and were closer than brother and sister. She was someone I could always talk to and who always had a ready smile; one of those rare once-in-a-lifetime friends that God blesses us with. When Jacquelyn moved, it broke my heart, but thankfully we still get to see eachother every few months or so. Jacquelyn taught me just about everything I know about showing unconditional love, and I thank God for her everyday. I miss you, Jaq, and I love you!

Tonight I sit outside
Of an empty shell
Where friends used to live
People I knew so well
I look at this house
It's no longer a home
Symbolic of my empty heart
Drained of life and so alone
And I ask God, "why?"
'Cause you were such a big part of me
And I really miss you
In times like these

Chorus:
In times like these
When I need someone to talk to
In times like these
When I need to see your smile
In times like these
When I need a friend
Who will never let me go
It's times like these
That I miss you so

Seems I never knew
How much you meant to me
Now you've gone away
And it's all too plain to see
A special friend you were
Different from the rest
And though I'll always miss you
We know that God knows best
And I'll love you forever
'Cause you were such a big part of me
And I really miss you
In times like these

Chorus

Bridge:
And though we're far apart
We will always be close
And this is my prayer,
Dear God, go with us both

Chorus
