Message in a Bottle

Written on July 25, 2000. Sometimes I feel all alone, kind of like I'm on my own deserted island, separated from everyone. It's like no one quite understands what I'm going through. It's these times that I send a "message" to God through prayer, and He always draws near to me, and always understands me.

Sometimes I feel
Like there's no hope
Like no one understands
Just how I feel
In truth, I don't understand it myself
And I feel alone
Alone in this world

So I write a message
And put it in a bottle
And cast it to the ocean waves
"Is there anyone out there
Who feels the way I do
And do you understand
Just what I'm going through?
Is there anyone out there
Who even cares at all
Who will help me when I fall

I watch the bottle
As the tide ebbs away
Wondering if it will ever
Find its way back to land
In truth, I think it will just be lost
All alone like me
