Little Sister, Little Brother

Written on June 27, 2000. This song is basically a wake-up call to the Church to take note of the suffering people all around and to have compassion on them. Compassion is definitely the key to the Christian life. So often, we ignore the hurting, while that is who should be focusing on reaching: those most in need of Him. While all my songs pretty much come from the heart, this is probably one of the most heart-felt of my songs.

A little girl
Sits in the corner
Facing fears and crying tears
But no one sees
'Cause no one cares enough
To see her there
She has no hope
No one to soften her fall
So she sits there crying
Staring at the wall

Chorus A:
So little sister
Why don't you come here with me?
I'll show you the love you've never known
And little sister
I'll take you beneath my wing
And wipe your tears
And calm your fears
And teach you how to smile and sing
I hear you ask me
"How can you show me this love?"
And I will answer
"My little sister
Someday soon you will see
It's because of His love for me"

A little boy
Sits in the pouring rain
All alone, with no home
But no one sees
'Cause no one cares enough
To see him there
The tears from his eyes
Mix with the rain that falls
As he sits there crying
Up against a wall

Chorus B:
So little brother
Why don't you come here with me?
I'll show you the love you've never known
And little brother
I'll take you beneath my wing
And wipe your tears
And calm your fears
And teach you how to smile and sing
I hear you ask me
"How can you show me this love?"
And I will answer
"My little brother
Someday soon you will see
It's because of His love for me"

Closing:
Is there anyone out there
Who cares
That there are people out there
With shattered dreams
And broken hearts
After a lifetime of false starts
Christian friends, lend an ear
Just what are we doing here?
We should be loving one another...
I love you, sister
I love you, brother
