In His Eyes

Written on April 23, 2000. This is another one of my more humorous songs. It talks about all the things that society tells us we "have" to do to be accepted. Then it contrasts this with the unconditional acceptance of the Saviour.

Society will tell me
What to do to be accepted
Pump some iron, get a tan
Inner worth will be neglected
Wear the clothes and use the slang
Sport the shades and join the gang
Get the girl and drive the car
Make the money, be a star
Yet it won't bring popularity
To follow God's own will for me

Chorus A:
But if I give God all I've got
Then I'll really have a lot
Society's words are useless chatter
God's opinion is all that matters
I don't believe in society's lies
'Cause I find acceptance in His eyes

I'm not a superhero
Don't think I ever will be
I don't own a single pair of tights
No muscles big like Arnie's
No bank account just like Bill Gates
And my wardrobe ain't that great
I'm not a lady killer
I don't know all the moves
And when it comes to dancin'
I sure ain't got the groove
Good-looking? You can forget that
And if I tried to fly, I'd splat

Chorus A, Musical bridge

Chorus B:
And if you give God all you've got
Then you'll really have a lot
Society's words are useless chatter
God's opinion is all that matters
Don't listen to society's lies
'Cause you'll find acceptance in His eyes
