Faith In You

Written on March 26, 2000. This is one of my shorter, "I'm-still-learning-to-write-songs" songs. This one gave me some trouble as far as rhyming went, so some of the wording is odd. Looking back, I see this song as kind of a transition. While not exactly a comedic song, I attempted to include some hints of humor at my own human stupidity. Though still a far cry from my later work, this was the first song that really explored some of my deeper thoughts and feelings. I think that every Christian goes through some times that they doubt God and the things He does in our lives. This song is about having faith in Him no matter what.

The choices I make from day to day
Sometimes lean toward the broader way
I say Your Spirit is my guide
But I dont listen to Your voice inside
I look at things from my own view
But I really need more faith in You

Chorus:
Sometimes it seems my brain and me
Have somehow parted company
These human eyes just cannot see
Why do I doubt so easily?
Strengthen, Lord, my faith in You
Help me to follow Your will too
Look past my own frailty
And fill me with Your wisdom, please

I can hear each thing You say
Still I choose to do things my own way
I end up beaten and tongue-tied
Crawling broken to Your side
Wish I could see things from Your view
I really want more faith in You

Chorus (2x)
