God finally decided He was tired of mankind--after all He had done for them, they showed their thanks by turning from Him and living in sin. So, God decided to wipe out mankind, save one man and his family. You guessed it--Noah.
God told Noah to build a giant boat and to climb aboard along with his wife, his sons and their families, and two or more of every living creature. Even though the idea seemed silly, and even though Noah was ridiculed for doing it, Noah stayed faithful and did what God said. Because of all this, Noah and his family survived the worst storm the world has ever known.
In our lives today, we have many "storms," or times of trial and trouble. But unlike unbelievers, we have Hope. Our hope lies in God. He can protect us through even the worst of storms.
However, it is important not to overlook the fact that Noah was faithful to God even when what He told Noah did seem silly. Sometimes, God may tell us to do something that sounds silly, and we may be ridiculed or pushed out of our comfort zone for doing it. But I guarantee you, if you stand up for what is right, God will stand up for you through all your life's storms.
I leave you with the following two verses, the first of which is spoken from the mouth of Jesus, the one who can protect us from all of life's storms:
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." ~John 14:27
and this one, from the book of Isaiah:
"You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm, and a shade from the heat." ~Isaiah 25:4
God is always there when we need Him.
