God has laid something on my heart for this group this morning. Folks, this is the time to get serious. We, as Christians, have played around enough. God wants us to decide today whether or not we're serious about following Him. If we are, it's time to start living the life.
We've talked before about being a willing vessel for God. If I asked each of you whether or not you were willing to serve God, you'd probably all say that you were. But being willing is not enough. Allow me to use again an example I've used before. If you're on the football field, or the basketball court, or where ever, and you asked both teams if they were willing to win, I can almost guarantee you they'll both say yes. But if they go out there and sit down on the field or court and let the other team play, they won't win. It's much the same with us. We must first be willing, but then we must get off of our rear ends and do something about God.
Today, I want to talk about what's in our way of serving God fully. All kinds of things can stand in our way: the friends we have, boyfriends and girlfriends, the music we listen to, the movies we watch, the books we read, the vocab we use, the schedules we keep, the habits we have. We can make any of these things into a sort of "mini-god" which we serve. We need to lay these things down! All these things have their place, but if they are keeping us from serving God, we must get rid of them. Movies, books, music; if it's unclean, separate yourself from it! Anything that's standing in between you and God has to go before you can be useful to Him.
God wants to use this group, small as we are, to change this campus. There are few of us, but the few are faithful. And just look at what 12 faithful disciples did: they turned the world on its ear, and we are still feeling the aftershocks today. We can change this school. We are here for a reason--we were sent to this boat to rock it.
This morning is it, folks. This is your time. It's time to separate the wheat from the chaff. Choose today whom you will serve. I want to give you time now to pray. While you pray, ask that God would use you like never before, and ask Him to help you lay down all that stands between you and Him. You will never regret it.
