Faith without action is dead. That's a tough statement, because it makes us examine our own faith, and I think that, unfortunately, more times than not, our faith is dead. Why? Because although we say we believe something, we don't act on it.
You can believe in Jesus, but it doesn't do you any good if you don't apply this belief to your life and actually live like you believe it. Even the demons, even Satan himself, believe in God and in Jesus Christ, and they tremble. So if you don't take your belief and do something with it, there's no point in believing it. Only when your beliefs are accompanied by actions to back them up are they worth anything.
We have a serious problem in Christianity today--too many people claim the name of Christ and then live like they could care less about Him. Believers know what they're supposed to do, but just won't do it. That's where we're failing: we have too many believers who do nothing more than believe; too many hearers of the Word, and not enough doers. God Himself has commanded us to share His love with everyone. And that's not a choice, it's a command. Plain and simple.
We, as Christians, are facing more persecution then ever before, especially in the schools. Our beliefs are being ruled out all in the name of tolerance. But we should take heart--if you look carefully, you'll realize that ours is the only belief system that is not being accepted. Buddhism, Islam, New Age movements, cults, everything else is being embraced in the name of tolerance. But Christians aren't tolerated. It logically follows that the world must be afraid of us if we're the only ones they want to do away with. And you know why they want to do away with our beliefs? Because Satan, the ruler of this earthly realm, is afraid of truth. He is making society embrace every falsity in existence, just as long as they don't embrace the real truth that is Christianity. And you know why our government is succeeding in ruling us out? Because we won't put our faith into action.
So what are you doing to live and share your faith? Are you just hearing God's commands, or are you actually following them? If you're not, I urge you, start living your life based on faith. Not only will it make your life better, but it will allow others to see that there is a better way to live than on the path of self-destruction they're living on.
