Cadette Girl Scout Would Like to be a PA for a Daisy or
Brownie Troop!
|
|
An 8th grade Cadette GS who was a Program Aide for a 1st grade Brownie GS troop last year
is looking for a Brownie or Daisy troop that would like an extra pair of hands at their meeting.
She is a fully trained PA, certified in both outdoor skills and song leading. She works very
well with young children and takes direction from the leader well. She's very good in those
instances when half the troop suddenly finish a project too soon and the leader says, "here,
do something to keep these girls occupied while I help these finish." Jackie and Jennifer
have seen her in action and would be able to give an "un-mom" opinion of her qualifications.
Contact Gweyn (proud mother).

Jan. Neighborhood Service Project!
|
Troop 80 is sponsoring a "Hug Me Bear" drive for the January Neighborhood Service
Project. Your troop can make these bears using the very easy pattern provided! They will
then be distributed to Emergency Medical Services to be given to children in traumatic
situations. Bring your finished bears to the January Leader Meeting or get them to Liz by the
end of January!
|
This service project can be tied into a badge, like the new sewing one for Juniors! Questions?
Contact Liz.

|
Keep In Touch!
|
We are going to set up a Neighborhood Directory to be passed out to fellow leaders in our
neighborhood. Possible items to be included will be leader names, phone numbers, email
addresses and street addresses. If you DO NOT WANT to be listed in the directory, please
contact Program Consultant Lisa by December 31, 2001.

Beaverton & Beyond - An Evolution.
|
I'm thrilled to announce that our service program, Beaverton and Beyond: Building a Better
World, has evolved into a website! It differs from the paper resource guide in that the same
level of detail about individual projects will not be on-line. Instead, there are links to those
sites where the information can be found.
|
In addition to information and links to service projects, there are areas discussing:

Successful Service Projects
|
Success Stories
|

Media Involvement (in development)

E-Mail Newsletter
|
Family Service
|
By signing up for the e-mail newsletter, you will receive notice about new projects and other
useful information!
|
By putting this on-line, word of updates and new projects can be more readily available. It
also opens up the information to other youth groups, church groups and students who have
community service requirements. Since this began as a GS project, I plan to make note of
projects that are specifically GS. You can reach the site at: www.beavertonandbeyond.org.
