CHAPTER 3

Keesha was relieved when she arrived home and discovered only she and Monica would be having dinner.

''I know where A.J., Edward, and Ned are, but where are Alan, Emily, and Lila?''

''Alan is at his NA meeting. Emily is having dinner at a friend's, and Lila ate her dinner in her room. She's upset about the docks project.''

''I know the feeling.''

''You look disappointed,'' Monica observed. ''What happened?''

''Nothing that I should be wasting energy on. A.J. and I had made last-minute plans to go away this weekend, but the docks crisis at ELQ thwarted those plans very nicely.''

''I'm sorry, sweetie. I know how important it is to spend time alone.''

''It's okay. If this situation gets resolved, we can go away soon.''

But to Keesha and A.J.'s dismay, along with everyone involved, the matter did not resolve quickly, and every day that passed was more tension-filled than the previous.

Jason was adamant that the entire docks not be shut down while the renovations were being made, and ELQ was just as adamant that they be closed so the changes could be made more expediently.

Ned returned from his overseas business trip, ready to relieve A.J. of his duties regarding the docks, but A.J. wanted to remain on the team, and Edward supported him. This created even more tension, especially when Edward told them they'd better learn how to work together.
