| Her husband Jim had his own theory of the incident. "Either these bozos were on drugs, or they're the stupidest people on earth," he said. "My wife and I just had a baby last week. I clipped the article from the local paper headlined, 'Local Couple starts nuclear family'. Greenpeace must be totally confused." The protesters, whose names have been withheld, were each released on $500 bail. They could not be reached for comment. Sky Forrester, the Greenpeace representative for Stamford County, released a press statement earlier this morning identifying the protesters as current Greenpeace members. According to the statement, the activists were all newly initiated and very "gung-ho" about the organization's causes. Forrester's message went on to say that an internal investigation regarding their motives will be conducted. Greenpeace members frequently speak out against unfriendly environmental practices such as deforestation, whaling, and the use of toxic chemicals. Nuclear proliferation is also a strong campaign, as the organziation believes the harmful effects of nuclear power far outweigh any benefits. Stamford Police Chief William D. Simowitz praised his officers' handling of the situation. "We're definitely dealing with some unstable people here," he said. "You never know what can happen when you attempt to take activists into custody. But I'm just glad everything worked out well." |

| February 4-- Four people were arrested Monday afternoon as police broke up an anti-nuclear demonstration in Stamford, Conn. The four people, who identified themselves as members of the Greenpeace organization, were booked on several counts of disturbing the peace. Clad from head to toe in protective radiation suits, the four activists marched up and down the lawn of Jim and Dee Walker, shouting slogans against nuclear proliferation. "We didn't know what was going on," Dee Walker told HDBAY. "Suddenly these people kick our picket fence down, then start displaying these large signs about how we're polluting the earth." |
