On the website, HelpLeahGetPregnant.com, the couple posted a paypal donation link (not unlike my own) and listed their PO Box number for donations. They tell website visitors that money is not the focus of their campaign, but really, how else are we supposed to help Leah get pregnant without trying the old fashioned way? So obviously it is about money. And despite the couple's pathetic interview on national television, they did not convince me otherwise. According to the GMA article, the Seattle couple pulled in a little over a grand towards the procedure. The couple's website stated that it will cost over $12,000 for the in-vitro. A Seattle newspaper covered their story issuing some negative press about the couple's plight, leading to a "damage control" posting by the couple reiterating their point that they're "not out to make a buck." I can imagine the amount of attention the couple received after the GMA appearance, and honestly, it gives me great hope that I can get some press for my own site. The similarity between my site and their site is glaringly apparent, although our motivations are vastly different. We were both out to get some money, but I can be honest about it. I WANT MONEY TO BUY A YUGO. After pondering the HelpLeahGetPregnant website, I was thinking I could buy a domain name. How about "HelpDave'sWalletLookPregnant.com"? Or "HelpDave'sWalletGetFat"? Or what if I got straight to the point by calling it "GiveMeMoney.com"? (I just looked it up and it seems that it's already taken). But really, if I get enough money to buy a Yugo, I would be forced to get a Yugo. I won't lie to people that way. I still don't know what I'd do with it, though. My perplexity leads to this week's assignment.

THEY STOLE MY IDEA!
OR DID THEY JUST HAVE IT FIRST?
December 7-- What happened this week? Well, I didn't do my weekly update scheduled for Monday. I'm actualy writing 5 days late, on a Saturday. And since I still plan to make a regularly scheduled update for Monday, I'll be writing again in two days. I caught a Good Morning America story on "cyber-begging" last Friday, where a couple set up a website asking for donations to "help Leah get pregnant. And before I go on any further, let me clarify what that web site exactly was for. (I know there are many of you who'd jump at the chance to help-- and would be ready in less than two minutes with their own personal donation.) But anyway, this couple was soliciting monetary donations to pay for an in-vitro procedure. And for those of you who don't know, that means the husband will use his own sperm.
Give me 250 words on what I should do with my Yugo once I get it. The winner will have his/her essay posted.
And in all seriousness I do wish the Seattle couple luck on having their baby. Their method of raising money can easily be attacked, but at least they removed their PayPal link. I'm leaving mine on.
