In the story published on The Hummingbird, Mr. Cumti takes a Dave Barry-like approach to explaining why God created football.  With the assumption that football is the perfect spectator sport, he elaborates his point that most of the games are played on Sunday, the Christian "day of rest".  Since many males use Sunday to enjoy a leisurely day of football enjoyment, he explains that the sport of football and Sunday are ingeniously intertwined in a fashion only capable of being invented by a higher power.

Some gaps do exist in Mr. Cumti's rather well thought out revelation, but the humor does well to avoid possible confrontations with both biblical theologans as well as Darwinian evolutionists.  All in all, the piece serves the purpose of giving his intended audience a chuckle.

Mr. Cumti's literary "to-do" list is quite long, but he says he takes it "one step at a time."  Currently in progress is a piece about his recent holiday adventures, namely a large extended family gathering on Christmas.

If it's anything like his last piece, it should be a little outrageous and a delight to read.  To read the full story, visit the complete

HDBAY FOUNDER CAN NOW SAY HE'S A "WRITER"
December 30--Another page in HDBAY history was written last week when website founder David Cumti saw his first written work published on the e-zine The Hummingbird. The lighthearted article explained the existence of God through the sport of football.  More specifically, the playing of football on sunday, the Sabbath Day.

The publishing e-zine is similar in format to
The Onion, which features satirical opinion columns and tabloid-like news stories.  Mr. Cumti hoped it will be the first of many writing pieces published in the near future.

"I'm working hard to build my portfolio quickly," he said.  "I don't consider that last piece of writing to be my best work, but I'm excited to have it published."
