The Archives Read past articles.
Maybe she wasn't a very good reader, because the HDBAY writers addressed both of these points in past columns. For example, in the November 15th column, it was stated that a Yugo is a vehicle from a "now defunct Eastern Bloc country." I don't know where she got her definitions, but when I was a kid, "defunct" meant "Having ceased to exist or live." And it still has the same meaning today, because I looked it up on Dictionary.com and it says "Defunct: Having ceased to exist or live: a defunct political organization." To address HDBAY's alleged lack of "financial probity", let me point to the fact that a Yugo is one of the least expensive vehicles out there. I checked a series of ads for a used Yugo online and found that they ranged anywhere from $500 to $1600. You can't find another car cheaper than that. A Dean Kamen Segway will cost you double-- and those only have two wheels and a top speed of 15 mph. And another thing about our website's supposed financial turpitude-- we've only got $0.51 in the pot. It's not like someone donated their retirement savings to help us get our Yugo (although these days, $0.51 could be considered quite a nest egg after the Enron and Global Crossing scandals). So I say to my faithful reader: Chill out. But thanks for reading. And when we finally get our Yugo, you'd better not be crossing the street.

HDBAY WEEKLY WRITER RECEIVES LETTER FROM ANNOYED READER
January 19-- I received an angry email from a reader this week which evoked quite an emotional response. After I read the last line of the email, I jumped out of my chair, raised my fist in the air, and exclaimed, "Someone's reading our website!". A few minutes later, my enthusiasm subsided, and I scanned the email, this time trying to determine what the reader was trying to tell me. She was apparently offended about the way HDBAY solicited funds for no other purpose than buying a vehicle. "The website's use of a Paypal solicitation for purposes of purchasing a used Yugo demonstrates both a lack of financial probity and an ignorance of current political and geographic awareness," her statement rambles.
