Toonami: Confinding Confusios
If you want to talk about confusing, read this:
If this schedule works out, CN will start showing 2 new Gundam series!Dragonball Z will be returning to the 5:00 PM (e/p) spot once again. Before I get your hopes too high, I should let you know this alteration is only for 2 days. That's right for 2 special days. Thursday, July 12 and Friday, July 13, 2001 DBZ will air at 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM (e/p) on the Toonami block. After the 2 special days are over, the following Monday, July 16 DBZ will reclaim its 6:00 to 7:00 PM (e/p) spot on Toonami.
Toonami's Line-up: 5 to7 PM for July 12th and 13th
5:00 PM --- Dragonball Z
5:30 PM --- N.A. (T.B.A.)
6:00 PM --- N.A. (T.B.A.)
6:30 PM --- Dragonball Z
TMR Line-up 12:00 AM to 1:00 AM for July 12-13
12:00 AM --- Dragonball Z
12:30 AM --- Dragonball Z
Let me explain: "I also didn't get why Toonami was doing this at first, so I talked to one of the officials connected to CN's Toonami Line-up. He said that because DB's primer date was pushed back to July 23rd 2001 it screwed the whole Toonami Line-up. Like we reported last week that "The Big O" would be joining the Toonami Line-up, he also gave me a conformation on that news, so now the return of Big O is double confirmed. He also mentioned that the reason Toonami is having these two special days (July 12 and 13) is that Big O has only 13 episodes. Toonami will air all the 13 episodes at 5:30 PM (e/p), and the last episode on Big O will air on Wednesday, July 11. That will be the end of Big O but there are still 2 days left in the week. Those 2 days, Thursday, July 12 and Friday, July 13 are special days. There is no confirmed line-up for anything right now just random premier dates and times.
My source also let me in on a few secrets. If you remember my last post on the Toonami's scheduling line-up I mention that I missed "Outlaw Star" that was a little hint that "Outlaw Star" was returning back to Toonami. Here is the official word as of right now. "Outlaw Star will be returning on the Toonami's mid-night's run (TMR) on Monday, July 23rd at 12:30 AM and will carry on into August 2001", that's a month from now. He said CN is still debating if they will air Outlaw during the Toonami's afternoon/evening block. He said that the chances for Outlaw to return on Toonami's 5 - 7 PM (e/p) block is very very slim. Now, with all the new anime shows about to premier on CN's Toonami they will not have time to re-run old anime shows any time soon during the afternoon block. They will how ever circulate the flow of previous animes (Gundam Wing, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon) during TMR at 12:30 AM. (e/p)
Now for some big news no one expected. Here are the official Gundam series premier dates. On Monday, July 23rd 2001 (the same day DB's is supposed to premier) "Mobile Suit Gundam" will make is way on TV sets across U.S. starting us of at 5:00 PM (e/p) during the Toonami/CN's block. Cartoon Network has traditionally regarded 5:30 as a highly desirable time spot and used it to introduce new anime shows. But in this case it's not ture looks like CN and Toonami will be airing MS Gundam at 5:00 PM on July 23rd.
This news you are about to here is most bizarre but this is the first time that Toonami/CN will premier a new anime series during Toonami's Mid-night Run (TMR). "8th MS Gundam" will debut its first appearance during TMR. "8th MS Gundam" is scheduled to premier on Monday, July 23rd 2001 at 12:00 AM (e/p). Ok this is also weird that it's premiering at 12:00 AM (e/p) on July 23rd but it will officially be July 24th, but it will be advertised on CN as July 23rd, Midnight. That's the same night Outlaw Star will start airing re-runs on TMR. This would also be the first time that TMR doesn't consist of DBZ. Both MS Gundam and 8th MS Gundam will carry on in to August 2001. We still don't know if "8th MS Gundam" will air uncut or not. I doubt it!
I got a lot of e-mails today asking me about Toonami's line-up for July 23rd. I know this is all hard to understand but i'll do my best to explain. Unfortunatly my source didn't have all the details either.
Toonami's Line-up 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for July 23rd
5:00 PM --- Mobile Suit Gundam
5:30 PM --- Dragonball
6:00 PM --- Dragonball Z
6:30 PM --- N.A. (T.B.A.)
TMR Line-up 12:00 AM to 1:00 AM for July 24th
12:00 AM --- 8th Mobile Suit Gundam
12:30 AM --- Outlaw Star
September 3, be on the lookout for DBZ Season 5, that's old news ^_^;; ... The In-flight movies will be put on hold till winter. The Toonami/CN official also said that he would be surprised to see if DB makes it's debut on July 23rd. I have no clue what he meant by that but I am guessing that if DB is rescheduled again that is really going mess thing up for the upcoming anime shows. And get this: "Batman and Superman" will not air on CN's Toonami anymore. Praise the Lord!!
