Yamaha Upright Pianos

The Yamaha U3 pictured above left, remains a very impressive upright piano with a deep resonant bass and a very responsive feel. This piano has been one of my favorites for years as an acme of quality and this brand new version was very surprising. Yamaha has made it known that they are offering a new hammer that produces a mellower, darker sound throughout its scale. This instrument seemed to my ears to be outfitted with this new set of hammers.
The Yamaha MX100-II system pictured above right is basically a U1 piano outfitted with a multi-timbral source sampling synthesizer with several hundred voices. This "composer's dream machine" can be had for around $10,000. It really will do everything include produce MIDI source that can be input into a computer for further processing for music notation or other uses. The clear plastic front is NOT available however. This was a special design for the store only. It is pictured in play as it operates as a player piano. I was very impressed with this system.
