Many eons ago on a distant planet, known as Planet Plant where lived a large population of advanced peoples known as the Tsfurujin (Tuppels) . These Tsfurujin held a great deal of technological wonders and had enormous and beautiful cities. But outside the city was a much larger and stronger race. This race, that had a monkey-like tail, were known as Saiyans. The Saiyans were very aggressive and strong. Saiyans were uncivilized brutes, but were very small in numbers, and lived in small tribes outside the beautiful cities of the Tsfurujin civilization.
For hundreds of years the Saiyans wanted to take over the planet but could not. The Saiyans had a desire to kill, destroy, and conquer, plus they enjoyed the battle and thrill of the chase. Had the numbers of the Tsfurujin been less, they would have destroyed the Tsfurujin from the beginning. But, the numbers and the intelligence of the Tsfurujin was something they could not overcome. Tsfurujin had technology.
With their advanced technology and weaponary, the smaller and weaker Tsfurujin , were able to push back any Saiyans attack. They had devices that measured the power levels of thier enemies and powerful guns and cannons. Although the Saiyans were down, they were far from out.
Planning and waiting, the Saiyans lay in wait. With a ferousity like none other, the began the attack. The fight was long and the Saiyans appeared to be at their best, but it was still not enough. But something on Planet Plant occured to turn the table of the war. This thing was a full moon, one that only happened every few hundred years. And if you don't already know, when a Saiyan looks at a full moon they transform to large monkeys. The monkey form is known as Saiyan Monkey or Oozaru.
In this transformed state the Saiyans were ten times more powerful than in their normal form. While the Saiyans were in this Oozaru form, they took only a little while to destroy the entire planet and all of the Tsfurujin . During this battle, the Tsfurujin created Bebi, but never used him. Destroying the entire civilization, every city, and every living being on the planet. But now the planet was taken over, what was left for the Saiyans to do. They needed technology, and since they destroyed the Tsfurujin technology they needed to go somewhere else for the technology.
So the Saiyans built a primitive spaceship and flew to a nearby planet. This planet was inhabited by the Arconians. From the Arconians, the Saiyans obtained scouters to read the power levels of their enemies, armor to protect themselves in battle, and space pods to reach the planets they would take over.
Arriving back at the destroyed Planet Plant, the Saiyans renamed the planet, Planet Vegeta, and crowned a king. The Saiyans became planet mercenaries. They killed of all the life on a planet and put it on the market for sale. In the beginning, they worked for themselves, but eventually were hired by a powerful lord, Lord Frieza. More on Lord Frieza later on.
Three thousand years ago, there was a Saiyan so powerful, that he could not contain his power level within his normal form, instead he stayed within his Saiyan Monkey form. But his Saiyan Monkey form was different, his fur was gold and his eye's were red. He was known as a Super Saiyan, and he had no equal in the universe. The rage of this Super Saiyan was unstoppable, and in an angry explosion, he destroyed himself and the moon he lived on. Legend of the Super Saiyan seeped into every aspect of Saiyan culture, and it was said that every one thousand years, a Super Saiyan will rise.
But yet, three thousand years after the first Super Saiyan appeared and disappeared, a new dynasty rose and the Saiyans now worked for Lord Frieza. King Vegeta and his son Prince Vegeta. Prince Vegeta, had such a high power level at birth, and that plus his royal blood line and his Elite Saiyan Warrior status, left all Saiyans believing that he would be the next Super Saiyan. Frieza knew this and began to suspect a mutiny amongst the Saiyans. Yet, he talked King Vegeta into giving up Prince Vegeta. Although King Vegeta did not want to do it, he had other plans for Frieza.

Elsewhere on another planet, Saiyan warriors were busy killing off the last survivors. A third-class warrior known as Bardock had a person, begging at his feet for his life. Yet, right before he was killed, he cursed Bardock to see his cursed and condemned future. Bardock blasted him! They left and Bardock thought nothing of it. Upon arriving on Planet Vegeta, Bardock began getting visions of Lord Frieza destroying the race. So he ran and told his fellow warriors, but they laughed. Upon trying to find someone to help him, Bardock ran into one of Frieza's henchmen, Dodoria. Dodoria had already killed off a bunch of other Saiyans and he defeated Bardock, but he didn't kill him.
Meanwhile, on Frieza's ship, King Vegeta and a band of the best Saiyan Warriors stormed Frieza's ship. They killed his guards and arrived at his chambers. King Vegeta stood up to Frieza and attempted to kill him, Frieza killed King Vegeta with one blow, and blasted his men to pieces. Frieza decided to take out the whole race, so they do not cause a nuisance to him in the future. In reality, Frieza feared a Super Saiyan that would crush his reign of terror. So, while Prince Vegeta, lay in the depths of Frieza's ship, and his father lie dead, Frieza opened up the top of his ship. There waited Bardock and all the other Saiyans, awaiting what had happened and provide help if needed. Bardock was injured, but prepared to fight, he formed an energy beam in his hand. While Frieza formed a ball of energy on one finger, he enlarged it and flung it at Bardock, the Saiyans, and Planet Vegeta. Bardock blasted his beam, which was overtaken by Frieza's much more powerful ball.
The ball of massive power first hit Bardock. As he was destroyed he seen his son facing up against Frieza and destroying him as the legendary Super Saiyan, and as he died, along with the Planet and his fellow Saiyans, he said,"My Son Lives On!!"
As a side note, while Frieza had destroyed the planet, there were, in the series, 4 Saiyans that escaped; Kakarroto(Goku), Prince Vegeta, Nappa, and Kakarroto's brother Raditz. In the movie, there were 2 more Saiyans, Brolly and Turles who also somehow escaped. When Frieza had told the other's that still were on his side, Nappa, Vegeta, and Raditz, he told them that a large meteor collided with Planet Vegeta, destroying it. Although they still all believed that Frieza did it, and they waited for the day, they'll be stronger than him, for as Saiyans, the more they battle, the stronger they become And the Super Saiyan that did rise to rectify it was Son of Bardock, Kakarroto the Super Saiyan.
