Tenants of Badminton

1.  The first shot is the most important.  Take the offense as soon as possible.
2.  Control negative emotions.  Never let one bad shot leads to two, three, or four bad shots.
3.  Think and move.
4.  Stay on your toes.
5.  Racket up.
6.  Uses your backhand only when necessary.
7.  Play hard and play fair.  Call accurate lines.
             " Character is behaving correctly when there is no one to notice "
8.  Be a respectful guest and a gracious host.
9.  Take pride in yourself, your team, and your school.  Your behavior reclects on all of these.
    

Key Terms

Return shot --  Hitting two consecutive shots into the same area.
Purpose Smash --  A less than maximum power shot (80%) that is strategically placed in order
                             to set up a teamate or get a more powerful smash on the next shot.
Hold Cross -- Staying on the cross-court side from the bird when its on the opponent's side.
Attacking Clear -- A lower, faster clear used for an offensive purpose.
Racket Leg -- The leg on the same side of the body of the racket arm.
Off Leg -- The leg on the opposite side of the body of the racket arm.
