My team practiced by riding our bike several times in the park in the weeks leading up to the race. On the morning of the race, I had a different bike which was more shock absorbent and made a big difference. However, best to ride it before the race...not during the race!
We had trail running, biking, canoeing, and a mystery event involving filling up a bucket. I met a lot of nice people...fit..and positive about life.
