Chapter 1
Activity 1
Provide 3 arguments that you would use to persuade the principal to allow computers in the classroom.

Computers are an essential learning tool in the classroom for three main reasons.  First today's society and lifestyle is computerized from our automated communication to our instant media notification of events that transpire across the globe.  It is our job as educators to prepare our students for a successful future, and that includes getting them ready for the world that awaits them. Computers can be utilized to help teach information about a certain subject, and to help bring learning to life in the classroom.  A teacher needs to learn to use the tools that are available to them  through the internet, smart board, or infocus to help bring the world into their classrooms and not just use computers as a typing tool.  Beginning teachers can tap into Master teacher resources online, and use their sample lesson plans or demonstrations in their classroom.    I can not see any reason that a Principal would not allow such a valuable teaching tool to not be part of a student's learning.
Activity 2
Offer your opinions on the use of handheld computers in the classroom.
In a perfect world this sounds like a great idea.  My questions would be: Who covers the expense of loss or damage?  What do we do if the students at our school can't even pay their library fines?  Where are they going to get the money to pay for a lost or damaged computer?  If someone ever figures out the expense aspect I think that this would be a great learning tool to utilize in the classroom
