Hattiesburg, MS - With one week remaining until the first Mississippi Modified Series race at Southern Speedway, 34 open wheel drivers came to do battle and tune up for next weeks show. This was our first trip to Southern Speedway and we were expecting to gain both experience and good results from the night's racing. A good draw landed the 33D JetMod on the outside of the first row for his heat. There were a total of 5 heats with only the top 4 in each heat transferring to the main event, so a good finish was crucial. Daniel quickly jumped into the lead at the drop of the green and stayed there for about 3 laps until Jeffery Lawson made a pass on the high side. Daniel changed lanes and moved up and began to reel Lawson back in but finished 2nd. This locked us into the feature event with a starting spot in the 10th position. Daniel passed 3 cars on the first lap of the main event and was looking to make a charge to the front. With just a few laps in the book, he had already advanced into the top 5. After engaging in a fierce battle with Justin McKenzie, Daniel moved into the 4th spot with just a few laps remaining. This is where he would end up at the finish. After a very strong run against a great field of cars, things are looking good for the 33D team heading into next week's Mississippi Modified Series race.
