Meridian, MS - A field of 14 Mississippi Modifieds were in attendance Saturday night at Queen City Speedway. This was our first trip to Meridian and we were expecting good things. Fast hot lap times gave us reason to be excited about the heat race. With an inside second row starting position, against good competition, we felt we were on our way to a top two heat finish. Things started out good, and by the halfway point Daniel had moved into second place. He slowly began reeling the leader in until the right rear tire was knocked off of the rim by a rut in the track with two laps to go. This disappointed us but we were still hopeful of salvaging a good finish in the feature. Once again, the 33D car started off strong in the feature, coming from the back and quickly passing several cars in the first 2 laps. But is was not to be, as a car in front of him spun causing Daniel to check up and get his left front corner run over from behind. It broke the upper control arm and damaged the shock but he elected to continue. The car was still strong and able to pass, but another almost identical mishap occured a few laps later, this time taking Daniel out of the race. The 33D was really fast on Meridian's high banks, but unfortunate accidents did not allow us the chance to have a good finish. That will hopefully be remedied soon, as Daniel plans a return trip to Meridian in the near future.
