TYPES OF TVs
Direct View-Tube- A tube television is what we (over 40) are accustomed to, before all this changing technology. They don't cost as much as other TVs.
Digital Light Processing (DLP)- This was invented in 1987. They come in rear and front projection.
Liquid Crystal Display (LCD)- They come in either flat panel or rear projection. Flat panel displays are a lot more popular because they are thin and lightweight. The average lifespan of one of these displays is 60,000 hours. ie. if you watch 8 hours per day, it would take 20 years to wear out the LCD display.
Plasma Display Panels (PDP)- All Plasma TVs come in flat panels and most are sized in the 40-49 " range.
CONSIDER SIZE WHEN BUYING
How far away will you be viewing?
* 20"- 27"- you should be from 2.5-5 feet away.
* 32"- 37"- you should be from 6-8 feet away.
* 42"-46"-you should be from 10-14 feet away.
*50"- you should be from 12-16 feet away.
HOW TO INSTALL
Flat Screen TV Wall Mounts: This option is usually the least expensive, and only adds about 2 inches to the monitors depth.
Tilt Wall Mounts: This allows you to place the TV above eye level , such as over a fireplace.This adds approximately 5 inches to the depth of the mounted display.
Articulating Wall Mounts make use of swivel arms so the unit can be flush with the wall. When pulled out and in use, you can turn the display as much as 120 degrees to either side and 10 degrees up and down.
