On Wed, the night before, we spent an exhausted night at a Wisconsin Wal-Mart to restock.  We drove to a park on Lake Superior and the dogs had  a great time dipping in the waters.  The lake waters have small waves and the dogs looked so puzzled as the water snuck up behind them and SPLOOSH!  We had dogs running for the shore.

The beach was rocky with smooth round rocks and along the shore were a shock of light green trees that lined the shore.  Pure blue sky speckled with clouds moved above the horizon.  There was a spit made of large boulders going off into the water on the side.  The dogs played on the large gray rocks and looked so puzzled when the water would splash into them.  Sam moved from side to side of the rocks in complete puzzlement.

A still pool of water lay just before the lake and occasionally you could see a fish splash for a brief moment.  The dogs went wading once again and it was deep enough that it went up to their shoulders.

We had dinner, rested and moved on to search for our sleeping spot.  As we were leaving the park, however we saw a sign for a waterfall to the left.  Guess what we did!

Kim had me walk down the road to make sure we could bring the 5th wheel into the waterfall parking lot.  It was a gravel road that curved down, and it was just fine.  There were some kids leaving and Kim talked to them about the location of the waterfall.  Ends up they were diving on a second waterfall and the overlooks was just down a small trail.

The view was spectacular!  A silky smooth pool of water formed right before and after the cascading falls.  A long drop down the cliff face formed just after the pool and the beautiful sound of dropping water filled the valley.

We walked down the trail to different viewpoints and ended up at the trail to a second smaller waterfall. A steep dirt trail led down to gigantic jagged rocks that formed the valley.  The dogs ran off leash (under close supervision) and we explored the deeply wooded hillside.  Just down the trail a smaller waterfall ran over huge boulders eventually to go down the final falls.  Visible just down the river was a damn and warning signs were posted all over to get to higher ground if you hear the sirens.

The trail back was doggy heaven with mowed grass and higher weeds on the sides.  Running and sniffing, we made our way back to the camper.  (Okay, Kim and I walked.)   There was another viewpoint on the other side and a cement poured slope down to the bottom of the falls and a beach.  Sam and I walked on a wooded trail to an overlook of Lake Superior and the red lined cliffs with again striking green trees all around them.

On the way back we saw Little Girl campground right on the Lake.  Shortly after we passed it, we saw about 3 deer snacking on some front yard grass.  I was so glad that Kim could see the long tailed deer here!  They are different than the ones in Washington.  Flicking their tails up occasionally, they moseyed on their way.

We got some gas in Wakefield Michigan and the lady at the counter also volunteers at the Visitor's Center of Wakefield.  She recommended a campground for us to stay in at Sunday Lake.  It was a beautiful area with RV's right on the shore overlooking the blue lake.  We could hear kids splashing in the background, even though it was just getting dark.  We both had a feeling that this was a popular place for people to come for the weekend.  There were some extra spots in the middle and we found a pull-through.  Since we had stayed at Wal-Mart last night and didn't pull the slider out, there was an amazing sense of finally being home when the slider came out at last.
