To hear our motto is to know Dragon"s Breath International! It takes blood, sweat, more sweat and a darn good sense of humor to be a part of one of Portland's premiere dragon boat racing teams.
We're a motley crew of free spirits who sport the coolest racing jerseys in town and a pile of medals from the Portland OR, Vancouver BC, Victoria BC, and Vancouver, WA dragon boat races, Our goal in 2002 is to win a gold cup, yes, one that we can actually swig some beer from.
DBI competes in local, national, and international dragon boat tournaments throughout the Northwest and beyond. We're dedicated to training from March to September in preparation for these competitions.
To be part of DBI means not only to work hard, but to play hard. Besides the paddle practices and races, team members have shared ski trips to Mt. Bachelor, gone white water rafting, roasted a pig, and held countless parties around any feasible excuse.
In the meantime, we continue to bring together people to meet, race, and have fun. Our team includes everyone from engineers to artists, from students to professionals. Many members of DBI have been paddling only a short time while others have been dragon boating for several years.
We invite anyone who express an interest to come on out and try their had at paddling. Check us out and, if by some chance you like the sport and continue to show up for practices, become part of the DBI mystique.
