TC Mixed Lobball Tournament Day - August 16, 2008     Posted Wednesday July 30th 2008

Hi everyone,

Well, Tournament Day is almost upon us (3 weeks and counting down) and the Executive would like all teams to be aware of the following logistics details.

Date: August 16, 2008
Time: 8-4:30 pm
Place: RA Centre Ball Fields (2451 Riverside Drive)

1. Schedule (Emailed)

All teams will play 3 games. The Timeslots are 9am, 10:45am and 1:30pm and games will start promptly. Teams are requested to be at the fields 30 minutes prior to game start and Umpires will meet with Captains 10 minutes prior to game start times to review rules etc.


2. Home Plates

The Top 4 teams at the end of the season will need to bring their plates to be used on Tournament Day. As of week 10 standings, those teams are: Dirty 12 (Grass Field 3), Slugger-Nots (Grass Field 4), Wheels (Dirt Field 1), and Homers (Dirt Field 2).


3. Umpires

Paid Umpires will officiate Tournament day games (less stress, more fun). We have had them for a number of years now and they really love officiating at our event. The executive would appreciate it if Captains told their players to be courteous and treat the umpires in a kindly manner.


4. Seeds

Teams are seeded based on their end of season finish. The highest seeded team in each game WILL BE the HOME team for all games.


5. Posting of Results

Please post results at the cabin where the schedule will be posted OR transmit results to me, Anne Young (President) for posting. Captains are asked to check the schedule to determine where they will play for their next game. Don’t worry; it will always be an RA field. J


6. Softballs

Flight restricted balls will be used at the RA. The umpires will have these balls and all games will use new game balls.


7. Rules (Emailed)

Emailed: a 2008 summary version of the relevant rules for Tournament Day at the RA. Please note that all balls hit over the fence are ground-rule doubles.


8. Food and Drinks

There will be a BBQ from Noon-2pm at the RA field house.

The bar will be open from 11am on.


9. Trophy return

Teams who won last are requested to bring their trophies to Tournament Day (Eagles, Wheels, Dirty 12, Fish and Ships and Homers).


10. Trophy Presentation

The presentation will be held immediately after the end of the last game at the RA field house (bar and beach volleyball site). Trophies will be handed out to A and B Winners, A and B Consolation Winners and League Champion.


11. Prizes

Prizes have been donated by SPO and the league and will be drawn in the following order: A Champion, B Champion, and League Champion. Prizes will then be allocated as follows: Spirit, and then random selection from the remaining teams. The guaranteed prize teams (A Champ, B Champ and League Champ) names will ONLY be re-inserted back into door prize contention if there are prizes still remaining. Teams must be present to get a door prize.


12. RAIN OUT

This will occur on Sunday August 17, 2008.


13. Spares

If teams have either spare players or need a spare, please let me know.
