TROODONTIDAE

    Troodontids, a clade of basal maniraptoriforms somewhat similar to the deinonychosaurs, colonized northern Africa during the Pliocene (or possibly the Pleistocene) from Asia Minor.  There are no troodont clades endemic to Africa, but many, such as the bennumimes, are most common on this continent.
