Terranigma

Review:

The third and the best of the earth-builder series, Terranigma demonstrates Enix at its best.

Gameplay is platform/rpg, and much like Illusion of Gaia.  By using different items and your lances, you must battle through hours of interactive and interesting levels , and dynamic bosses.  At times there will be a puzzle of sorts to solve, and some of them are quite difficult.  There are also many different characters that you will meet during the game, and they all are memorable and well developed.   Music is nice, and it isn’t repetitive, which is a very important aspect of a good game.  The special moves you learn are nicely designed.  You use a box (Pandora’s Box to be exact) to store all your weapons, armor, etc.  Inside this box is a multitude of things that will help you throughout the game.  Also, the magic system relies on an item called magicrock.  After buying a spell, you can you magicrock to cast it if you have enough.

Terranigma has the best storyline of any game on the SNES.  This isn’t an exaggeration.  The only game that I’ve played that has even come close is Final Fantasy 6, but after playing both games, Terranigma’s was better, but not by much.  The story is that you are a young boy in a small village, and the town-troublemaker, which everyone is well aware of.  You have a girlfriend that you really like, and the feeling is mutual.  One day you are in the elder’s house, and you’re talking to some of your friends.  You start to talk about the door in the Elder’s house that no one is allowed to open.  Your friends decide that it would be fun to break down the door and see what’s inside.  You warily come along, and the door is broken down.  Everyone flees the room, leaving you to descend the stairs behind the door.  You go down and find a box.  As soon as you touch the box a small pink creature appears and explains what the box can do, and that you now own it. Then something strange happens.  Everyone but you and the Elder are frozen. The Elder enters the house to find out what has happened.  He finds you and tells you that the box you found when you went down, and you now must go on a journey to the five towers, which each resurrect a part of the world.

This game is amazing, and loads of fun.  I suggest that you stop what you’re doing now and play this game.  It is one of the best games you will ever play. STOP NOW…GET THE GAME.  10/10
